About Us

The Harpenden Art Club is a practical and supportive Club that welcomes artists of all abilities. Discover our story.

Our Beginnings

The Art Club was formed many years ago by a group of artists who met in a small room above the Old Cock Inn in Harpenden High Street. The Club's first President was the internationally famous portraitist, Frank O. Salisbury, who lived in Harpenden.

What We Offer You

The Art Club holds weekly meetings from September to May in the Salvation Army Halls on Leyton Green.

Meetings include demonstrations, workshops and general art practice. As artists, we enjoy getting together and supporting each other in our art practice.

Members' art work is displayed in the Eric Morecambe Centre in Rothamsted Park. A very successful exhibition of members' work is held every year in October.

During the summer months, we meet for outdoor sketching.
